Interacting with context

MUNAL Entryway

We have designed a new reception desk for the National Art Museum inspired by the building architecture. The analysis of some of its geometries led us to a new design that expresses its identity on a fresh way. Ironworks from window frames and railings’ geometry provided us a variety of lines and forms which reinterpretation resulted as a new pattern that would suit the building. The project includes three pieces of furniture: front desk, bench and an info totem. All three pieces are made of molten aluminum casted from 3D printed models. The geometric pattern is conformed by one piece that’s placed randomly to create infinite new shapes. The front desk, placed on the entryway is divided in three moveable pieces in case it needs to be rearranged for museum events.
