Peltre
The main concept for this collection came from the idea of creating a local “lonchería de barrio” (neighborhood luncheon), a traditional atmosphere but with a contemporary touch, where the main course are tortas and sandwiches, as well as typical Mexican pieces of pastry such as orejas (a piece of puff pastry shaped like some sort of ear), conchas (a powdered sugar-covered bun) or chocolatines (puff pastries filled with chocolate). The main idea of Peltre is to create a luncheon with high quality fast food, tasty, simple and local, a luncheon that gives back to the neighborhood those places where people could go and have a sandwich, read a book, have a chat. Within their concept, their namesake material, pewter, refers us to Mexican kitchens, since it is one of the most commonly found materials, whether that is inside fondas (small neighborhood restaurants), restaurants that serve typical food, and even inside Mexican homes; it can be spotted on ladles, pans, pots and every sort of container, and it has been with us for a while.
