Animales de Concreto

Concrete animals

This project is a tribute to Alberto Pérez Soria, a Mexican sculptor that on the 70’s designed an urban furniture line composed of concrete animals that children have enjoyed for over four decades. Inspired by it, Ariel Rojo redefined the design through contemporary tools and procedures, such as 3D modeling and prototype printing, CNC cutting and other new technologies that can be applied to concrete and give to this project a long service life and a refined design. Our purpose when re-creating this collection was to encourage children to play at the park, to be surprised by shape and size, to interact with their environment and separate for a moment from the technology that isolates them nowadays. We seek their surprise and curiosity by stimulating their sight and touch.
