Tzompantli

Tzompantli

For pre-Columbian civilizations, the relevance of a building did not only reside on its use, but also on the message it gave to inhabitants through graphic representations, whether they would be etched, sculpted, painted or drawn onto its walls. For us at Ariel Rojo Design Studio, it is due time buildings transmitted something to us again. “Tzompantli” is a reinterpretation of those legendary representations. Walls covered with ceramic modules will speak once again of ancient civilizations that will speak as well of our contemporary culture, both concepts fused on these elegant white skulls. Designed and produced in Mexico, Tzompantli is an environmental aware piece that considers materials, production force, and market.
